Manager, Customs

Summary

The Customs Manager is responsible for the management, organization and growth & development of their respective branch. They must ensure the compliance of employees with the company policies, U.S. Customs regulations, customer service requirements, and day-to-day clearing of inbound cargo.  Oversee, assist, train & maintain responsibility for the preparation of Customs entries & payment of duties.

Job Duties

  • Organization & Leadership of the branch
  • Responsible for Branch revenue goals
  • Monitor branch performance and take corrective action as necessary
  • Hiring, Training & Disciplining of Branch Employees
  • Receive and respond to calls from customers
  • Checking and responding to emails
  • Audit entries
  • Monitor staff training needs
  • Conduct regular staff meetings
  • Support business development
  • Client visits as required
  • Keep current with changing regulatory requirements and pass along information to staff
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

  • Customs Brokerage License
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • 5-10 years Customs Brokerage Experience
  • Ability to understand logical processes and be detail oriented
  • Strong Leadership Skills
  • Strong work ethic
  • Exceptional customer service skills
  • Ability to adhere to confidentiality when working with sensitive information
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision
  • Ability to work with strong attention to detail and timelines

  • Experience with Word, Excel, Powerpoint & Outlook
  • Ability to work with deadlines in a high-pressure environment

Work conditions

  • Overtime & travel may be required
